Dr. N. Elizabeth Fried, author, consultant, and executive coach, has been president of N. E. Fried and Associates, Inc for over 25 years. She is author of two books, SHRM best-seller, Outrageous Conduct: Bizarre Behavior at Work (1991, 1999) and Sex, Laws & Stereotypes: Authentic workplace anecdotes and practical tips for dealing with ADA, sexual harassment, workplace violence, and beyond . . . (1994). In 2008 she contributed a chapter entitled "Train to Ingrain: How to Make Learning Stick" to Extreme Excellence and in 2009 she wrote the chapter, “Say Hello, Wave Goodbye!" for Coaching for Success. Ms. Fried received her Ph.D. from The Ohio State University and her Certified Compensation Professional Designation from the WorldatWork (formerly the American Compensation Association).
A vibrant and entertaining speaker, she regularly addresses audiences about business process improvement, employee engagement, coaching and training issues. Fried conducted compensation research on a national scale and was quoted widely in such publications as The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, The New York Times, Chicago Tribune, Washington Post, U.S. News and World Report, Ms., Business Week, and Fortune Magazine. A prolific writer, she frequently contributed to professional journals and trade publications, which featured her research on secretarial grading practices, on-call pay, and retention (stay) bonuses designed to retain key people during acquisitions, mergers, divestitures, and special IT projects, such as Year 2000 or SAP. She has published more than 50 professional articles. Her work on evaluating performance management software in an article entitled, "360 Degree Software Shootout: Comparing Features With Need," for HRMagazine Focus on Technology Supplement is updated and annually and considered a premier resource. Additionally, she co-authored the WorldatWork's Building Blocks in Total Compensation titled "Developing Statistical Job Evaluation Models: An Approach to Building a Job-Worth Hierarchy."
Fried taught certification seminar for the WorldatWork on job analysis, job documentation, and job evaluation for 25 years. She is also served as adjunct faculty at the University of California - San Diego, where she offered a course on assessment tools. She also co-developed and facilitated sessions on 360 degree feedback, teambuilding, and communication for The Center for Leadership, a five-day premier program offered through the Ohio, Georgia, North Carolina, and California CPA Societies.
